June 2024
This June, in the coastal town of Newhaven, East Sussex, there will be a month of events, workshops, walks and community gatherings programmed to accompany 12 specially commissioned artworks that will be installed across the town.
Some of the biggest names in graphic art, illustration and street art will be creating murals. Artworks representing the community, local landscape and history of this vibrant industrial town, converting blank walls and neglected streets into spaces of colour and creativity.
NEWS
Turner Prize 2023 at Towner Eastbourne
The Turner Prize – the world’s leading prize for contemporary art – is this year being hosted for the very first time at Towner Eastbourne and sponsored by Newhaven art publishing company King & McGaw.
To provide information on what’s happening in Newhaven from our local cultural organisations and groups each month. We shall be listing venues and how to hire them, and provide information on relevant contacts for anyone hoping to put on their own events. We also have some seed funding for smaller events to take place during September each year, when Newhaven is at its busiest with Artwave, BN9 and some of our own Festival events.
OUR MISSION
OUR LOCATION
Newhaven is a small busy port town at the mouth of the River Ouse in East Sussex and surrounded by the South Downs. It has an active fishing fleet and marina with boats visiting from across Europe. Conveniently situated between Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne and with easy year round ferry access to France.
Newhaven has attractions for all the family; whether its exploring Paradise Park or the Fort, or just enjoying the beautiful coastal and Downland scenery.
OUR PARTNERS
“God gives all men all earth to love,
But since man's heart is small,
Ordains for each one spot shall prove
Beloved over all.
Each to his choice, and I rejoice
The lot has fallen to me
In a fair ground – in a fair ground –
Yea, Sussex by the Sea!”
— Rudyard Kipling, 1902
