Nick Pynn is an avant- folk electro-acoustic stringed multi-instrumentalist songwriter, composer and performer. Performing on a variety of instruments including 5 string violin, guitars, mountain dulcimer, mandocello and banjo, Nick plays these live whilst his feet live-loop and play bass pedals. He's performed as a sideman with many musicians and comedians over the years, including Stewart Lee, Arthur Brown, Boothby Graffoe, B*Witched, Steve Harley, Mike Heron (Incredible String Band), Beverley Martyn, Rich Hall and Omid Djalili. He also plays with Stomp’s ‘Lost and Found Orchestra’.
"The octopus of sound” - Stewart Lee “…one of England’s best instrumentalists and composers.” - fRoots
The Kites are a sum of significant parts – three songwriters in their own right, they are singer and virtuoso guitarist Mark Allen, soul vocalist and percussionist Jack Cryer and rhythm man with a dreamy voice Matt Hodgson. They've enjoyed playing and recording everywhere from close, intimate venues to full size theaters, all the while developing their warm and mellifluous chemistry, with their close harmonies and original songs - part folk, blues and soul - bringing audiences to tears (good tears!).
“One of the most life-affirming, chilled-out gigs I’ve been to.” Fringe Review
